WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Augustine Mitsch started the family farm in 1865 breaking the prairie sod with only an ox and a plow. With five generations of dairy farming, Jim (JR) Mitsch Jr. grew up working on the family farm.  His love for woodworking all started by doing various projects around the farm.

IN THE BEGINNING

Over 30 years ago JR started making cabinets in the basement of his home with the intention to provide high-quality cabinets that fit the needs of his customers. JR’s custom cabinets became a reality as he went door to door to get business and would complete one project at a time. The company quickly grew when JR’S was featured in the Parade of Homes showcase and won Best Kitchen in 1992.

NEW PARTNERSHIP

JR formed a new partnership with Joe Long.  Joe started working for JR’S Custom Cabinets in 1998.  Working his way up and learning all aspects of the company from sander to builder and even installing, he eventually became a project manager working directly with customers to design their cabinetry.  In 2010, Joe became JR’S business partner and now is the President of the company and overseeing daily operations.

Kyle did the ordering while also estimating.  Currently, Kyle is Vice- President and lead estimator of the company.
